What is Birth Trauma?

Birth trauma can result from a difficult or traumatic birth experience, leaving emotional scars that impact your wellbeing long after. It might involve feelings of helplessness, fear, or loss of control.

This service is suitable for those who have experienced a traumatic birth, as well as healthcare professionals and support people who have witnessed a traumatic birth. It is also suitable for people who have a fear of birth.

This therapy uses a variety of techniques including breathing exercises, deep relaxation techniques, and many more. The aim of this therapy is to remove the negative emotional component from the event. By doing this, we can help to resolve some of the symptoms you may be experiencing.

Some of the topics that BTR therapy can be used for:

  • Loss

  • IVF

  • Traumatic pregnancy/ labour/ birth/ postpartum period.

  • Fear of labour and birth.

  • If you feel any distress regarding pregnancy, birth, postpartum.

  • Birth workers who have witness distressing events in pregnancy and birth.

  • And many more.

This is a results focused treatment. It usually requires three sessions, but more sessions may be needed.
